On World Snack Day, what better occasion than to celebrate it with Provolone Valpadana PDO?
Provolone Valpadana PDO is an excellent injection of energy, thanks to the right balance of fats and proteins, without being hypocaloric. It provides valuable minerals for health: first and foremost, calcium, which is important for strengthening the skeletal system and muscles, and phosphorus, which provides energy for the brain and aids memory. Completing its nutritional picture are vitamins A, B and PP, which are, together with amino acids, a valuable source of nutrition. It suits everyone because, it is a ‘naturally lactose-free’ cheese. In fact, it is included in the list of 25 PDO cheeses naturally lactose-free tested (see Foods magazine 2021 – article ‘Lactose Residual Content in PDO Cheeses: Novel Inclusions for Conssumers with Lactose Intolerance’), with a lactose content of less than 0.001%, having a maturation period of 30 days for the mild type and at least 90 days for the piquant type.
It is certainly the sweet version that is most suitable for snack time: a 30 g cube of Provolone Valpadana PDO combined with seasonal fruit or a slice of wholemeal bread is a mini-meal that provides a good dose of energy, especially after sporting activity!
